Our History

The Miracle League® began in 2000 when the first field opened in Conyers, Georgia. Organizers wanted everyone to experience the joy of playing baseball by removing the obstacles that keep children with intellectual and physical disabilities off the baseball field.

Word spread, and today there are more than 350 Miracle League Organizations in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico, serving more than 450,000 children and adults.

After seeing The Miracle League featured on a television show, Jeff Barton became determined to bring the concept to his hometown. He began raising funds and garnering support and founded The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio  in 2006.

In 2021, we unveiled a fully accessible concession area at the field. Local suppliers, businesses, and contractors donated funds, materials, and labor for the project, with volunteers from Northwest Ohio Building Trades completing interior work. The facility also houses restrooms, changing rooms, and scorekeeping.

The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio is a nonprofit organization providing opportunities for individuals of all abilities to play baseball.

Our Mission

The Miracle League of Northwest Ohio strives to:

  • Provide opportunities for everyone, including kids and adults with special needs, to play baseball
  • Promote community support and inclusion through volunteerism

We cannot change or cure an individual’s disabilities. What we can do is provide opportunities to experience the joy and benefits of playing our national pastime – baseball.
